Turtle Vine is a succulent that has such beautiful, delicate-looking little leaves, which also have a beautiful trailing habit on their darker purple stems. They can grow up to 3m in length and width when given enough space – and they grow Fast, up to half a meter per year to be exact. Turtle Vine looks stunning left to trail over a statement pot or planter and it was an easy choice for our Plant especially for the Month of June.
Native habitat
Turtle Vine is a trailing succulent and native to South America.
Light and position in the home
Turtle Vine likes bright, indirect light and you should avoid direct sun, especially in the summer. A North or East facing windowsill is also ideal.
Foliage and flowers
Turtle Vine has beautiful, soft, downy, dark green leaves which grow on beautiful dark purple stems. The flower small, white blooms in late spring/early summer. It also has a magnificent trailing habit and loots beautiful in a statement pot.
Temperature
This plant prefers it on the cooler side, somewhere between 15-25 celsius, and also an average amount of humidity.
Watering
Callisia ‘Turtle vine’ also loves moist soil. Once the pot begins to feel light when lifted, it’s time for another water.
